Hoping that too ;)
I have an Asus HDP-R3 with Amp_R8 on it and an attached USB Drive.
I can reproduce the reboots all i have to do is only to navigate into the movies folder an browse in there.
So i can for shure say that it's not only network related (i only have an USB HDD attached) and it doesn't matter waht size the thumbnails have.
I have all my thumbnails converted to less than 15KB and it still reboots :(

Kind regards

I have the same problem! Asus reboots when i navigate into the folders in USB.

from AMP back to MOS?

Postby zakalwe » 11 Feb 2012, 14:48

First of all - I own my O! only since a few days, so my knowlegde about the internals are sketchy.

I change the FW frist to mosericves which is provided at the start page.
Then I switch to AMP r8 but sadly I'm quite dissatisfied.
The Fw seems to my very unstable.
For example, I use a SD Card with mkv files on it. Sometime this card wont be recognised, after a reboot the player recognise the SD Card, but with no content or only with a few files, ths rest seems to be disapear.
It doens't matter if a Ethernet LAN cable is plug or not - I get always a message, that I should plug the WIFi usb adapter.
Which is very annoying because you can operate for a few seconds with the player.
Sometime the RC wont work so I have to plug the AC cable and so on.

Ok, after this long prelude - how can I downgrade to mos?
Must I flash the orginal Asus FW and the upgrade via telnet and wget? If yes, how I have to flash the original ASUS FW?

@hoffi35
I've been talking to dsapac to adopt his project in AMP on January. He just told me it's a lot of work.
But there is a workaround.
FarVoice gave us the chance to use skin from Xtreamer Pro. Read his post on page 42. I did this on my MK1 and I'm able to use all features of Xtreamering-youtube, dsapac content, grooveshark, etc..

@andy78:
Could you explain the process (step by step) to acomplish that?
I tried but I always somehow corrupted the installation and the only way out was to flash again the firmware.
Thanks in advance.

dsapacTV Xtreamer xLive Links

Postby andy78 » 11 Feb 2012, 17:56

flash amp_r8_hd2
download putty http://www.putty.org/
Run puty, select connection type TELNET
anter IP address of your Xtreamer
Open connection. Login as root
copy and paste first command
sskin get xpro270 default
when download is finished, type
sskin change xpro270 default

Copy dsapac contect to sda1\scripts\xlive (in my case). Delete old xlive folder first

DONE

Edit
There should be run install.php script from the web browser
xtreamer_ip/media/sda1/scripts/xLive/install.php
Unfortunately web server and xtreamering section stoped responding after installation.
Here is the solution:
Replace two files in this location- scripts\xLive\www\cgi-bin
lighttpd.conf and lighttpd_local.conf
then, run install.php

I attach these files in zip

I know this was asked earlier in this thread for another AMP revision, but I feel it was never fully answered. Is there any way to have regular TV stations on the POHD firmware, as per the HD2? I see all the RSS modules for moservices under POHD, but they're all for like Russian etc sites. Is it easy to install that basic TV station function on POHD where one can input our own addresses? Can I just install one of the foreign ones and mess around with the director links? Thanks.

I noticed some other strange behavior of my R3 (Asus R3 with AMP_R8 on it, activated WiFi, attached 2TB Seagate HDD, no access to networkshares or mediaservers etc.).
All,ost every time when the R3 is starting up the first time i seems to scan the HDD but it never gets finished.
It's starting up normally then i shortly see the message "USB wifi pluged in" and immediately after the "USB wifi unpluged". After that the HDD is working (i can see the the blinking led) but i never get access to it with the R3.
There is no "attached usb..." icon either even after several minutes of waiting. If i press the power button the "shutting down...could take several time" screen is showing up but it will not shut down.
I have to pull the power cord and reboot it again but then it's working without any problems.

Some questions the came to my mind:

What exactly does the "scan option" do? Is it some kind of media library?
Is it possible to simply change between the AMP and the HD2 firmware? Don't know if it's correctly but i always updated the AMP with telnet and the "echo " " | dd of=/dev/mtdblock/0 bs=2048 seek=8192" code then reboot and it worked like a charm. Can i do the same to change to the HD2 FW?

@ Farvoice
Are there any plany to release some kind of updated R8 that contains the thumbnail fix that was released by AC Ryan?

Kind regards
Basti

One-two days. Crack made already (LossLess is a wonderful cracker)
It remains to find differences and remake a FW image

Will this work with any player? Even the HDP-R1?
BTW, can someone post a picture of that skin?
TIA
Cheers

NOP! On xTreamer SW1, PRO, iXtr only!
This skin is not hacked - it's a a clipping from oficial FW for xTr Pro.

Magnificient..

Not only did i get my old Xtreamer pro back, but now its faster.

It looks just as same as the Xtreamer firmware with the pro skin.
Also the Front LED (HDD & Network) NOW light up as well. Props to You :D.

Edit: after observing it for a while.. i found that it behaves similar to xtreamer firmware..
ie. the audio volume issues that had plagued the xtreamer firmware.. although it's zippy fast..

hence reverted to version amp 8 POHD without xtpro skin, which is pretty good
