iconBIT skin clock is 1 hour early

iconBIT skin clock is 1 hour early

Postby john3voltas » 25 Jul 2013, 02:50

Hello.
I have asked FarVoice about this but he doesn't know so maybe someone else (hint -> Pokrass ;)) can help me.
I'm using AMP r10 with iconBIT skin on my HDP-R1 and I can't get the clock to show properly on the home screen.
I even changed moS3's rdate timezone config to tz='WET0WEST,M3.5.0/1,M10.5.0' (I live in Portugal/Lisbon).
Now running "date" from the player's bash terminal shows the proper time/date but on the home screen the player is always 1 hour early (-1 hour).
What could possibly be wrong? Daylight saving time?
Cheers

The same case here, I am at CET GMT+1 and in order to have correct time during summer period I have to select GMT+2
I assume Daylight saving is not triggered by current date, nor RDATE helps to correct time on home screen

I could swear I saw a post from Pokrass in the Russian part of the forum with someone else having the same issue. Unfortunately I can't speak Russian and Google translate s**ks.
Besides, I can't find that post any longer...

Cool. But do you know how to fix this issue now? If you do, please share. :)
Or do we still need Pokrass's help?
Cheers

Unfortunatelly rdate can't change timezone in menu on this GUI. So you really must to change your system time in settings when your country changes timezone on summer time.
I think is not a big problem to change time once in 6 months ;)

Pokrass could you please explain how it works?
Linux actually knows the right date/time. If I run "date" I get the correct date and time for my country.
So Linux actually knows the time.
Then how come the GUI has a different time?
Isn't there any way to make the GUI get the time from Linux?
Cheers

@Pokrass
Ok this is really not a big issue for CET to set Kairo+2
I found out that time I get from telnet command "date" as example is "Fri Aug 2 01:38:30 MSD 2013" where MSD is Moscow Daylight Time (UTC+4 hours) and this affects what will be displayed on Icon home screen.
In Icon settings if I choose GMT+1 I have to move MSD 1hour forward in order to get correct CET (Central European Time).
I assume this is the case since MSD currently does not use DST and CET use DST.
Why home screen time is referring just to MSD?
Can we change this in order to have correct time for countries that use DST?

My Rdate.conf :
# Time Zone
tz='CET-1CEST-2,M3.5.0/02:00:00,M10.5.0/03:00:00'

# RDATE server
src='nist1.symmetricom.com'

Menu gets time from DvdPlayer. But not system time. So this bug makes its GUI creators (iconbit).
And no difference what timezone you set in rdate - DvdPlayer always set GMT-0 plus timezone whitch you set in Settings.

P.s. Do you read main page of our site? There is list of timezones for rdate!

Ok I have checked this tz format was partially wrong as I grabbed this from internet
Now date from Telnet is correct but due to bug homescreen date is 1hour late
Thanks for notice
